inspiration: the spine
In the wake of my Photo 365, my normal blog seems to be rather unused. I decided to do an inspiration post around a theme. I always save images that appeal to me as I find them on the web, and over the years, patterns emerge. I think the images are fun without context, but if you’re curious I can probably track down or at least point you in the direction of where I found them. Who knows, I might do more of these periodically.

Photos: Brooklyn
I’m finally settled in NYC! I have an apartment and a job! More on that later. Yesterday I spent the evening in Brooklyn, drinking with friends in the park and taking lots of grainy-ass pictures that I love. We were supposed to be watching a movie in the park, but 20 minutes of torrential rain rendered it canceled. We sat in the park anyways, it was a beautiful night. Next post: pictures of my apartment, tales of moving in, etc.(Also, I already posted this pictures on Facebook, but that’s okay, right? I’m having trouble dealing with all my cross-posting issues.)

The old friends I’m taking with me to NYC
Posted from: TX, USAIt’s been painful, but I managed to cut down to the bare minimum of books and blu-ray/DVDs to bring. I decided I would only bring things that felt like old friends (excluding Knocked Up and The September Issue - I just want to watch those again soon so I figured I’d bring them.)
Pictured (vaguely left to right and top to bottom):
The September Issue
The Wire (DVD)
E.E. Cummings: Complete Poems
Better Luck Tomorrow (DVD)
Romeo + Juliet (DVD)
The Fountainhead
The Social Network (Blu-ray)
Charles Bukowski: The Pleasures of the Damned
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
Watchmen
Inglorious Basterds (Blu-ray)
Watchmen (Blu-ray)
Batman: Year One
Venture Bros Seasons 1-3 (DVD)
Writing With Style
Infinite Jest
Dune
Black Swan (blu-ray)
300 (blu-ray)
Sin City (DVD)
Waking Life (DVD)
The Departed (DVD)
Cloverfield (DVD)
Knocked Up (DVD)
Trick ‘r’ Treat (blu-ray)
Dazed and Confused (DVD)
I guess this is what I would take if my house were burning really slowly and the fire started by eating up all of my clothes and computer and stuff. I’ll pour one out later for all the books getting left behind.

Quantitative analysis of my job search thus far
I think the fact that I even made these graphs is proof enough that I deserve an interview.
You can see big lapses for Memorial Day weekend (May 28-30), when I was on the river, and my lazy weekend (June 3-5) where I’m not even really sure what I was doing. Also, this:
I’ve applied for 23 jobs and had a total of 1 quick phone interview. -

Website relaunch!
Some kind of fatal disaster in my dad’s website hosting caused my old website to get deleted. So, I spent most of the evening reloading everything up and I think it looks even better than before! Hopefully it will help me find a job?
My favorite part is the favicon (!!!) and the new, resume-friendly logo.
